The UK will invest £900m in bid to build ‘BritGPT’

The UK government is investing £900m in a new supercomputer as part of its new AI strategy. The computer will be far more powerful than the UK’s biggest computers and establish a new AI research organization. There is only one computer in the world as powerful as the one the UK government plans to build, in the United States.


Recently the UK government has been criticized for lagging behind China in AI research and development. The international AI arms race has been heating up, and legislators see this new investment as a way to bring the UK to the forefront of advancements in AI technology.
