Perplexity AI hopes to rival Google

According to TechCrunch, a search startup just raised $26 million to offer an AI-powered rival to Google. Perplexity AI bills itself as a “conversational search engine” that uses similar technology as Google’s Bard and Microsoft’s Bing. While Perplexity reports 10 million monthly visits, a big difference from Google’s 89 billion, Perplexity insists its AI technology will set it apart.


Perplexity AI was founded by a group of back-end engineers aiming to create a more accurate chatbot search engine. They aspire to sift through websites and distill information for users to improve ease and accuracy of searches. Perplexity AI has released an iOS app and hopes to expand. With so many chatbot search engine platforms on the market, it’s hard to say whether Perplexity will have much luck against tech giants like Google and Microsoft.
