On Monday, Zoom announced a partnership with OpenAI that brings AI-generated tools to the app through Zoom IQ, an AI assistant. Zoom IQ can summarize what you’ve missed so far if you show up late to a meeting and even ask questions. It can also generate whiteboards based on prompts, summarize threads in Zoom Team Chat, and respond to colleagues using AI.
Zoom’s efforts to introduce AI capabilities come after its main competitors, Google and Microsoft, added several AI tools to their productivity apps. Zoom has also added non-AI services, such as connection to calendars and mailboxes and a Huddles feature. The AI arms race in the productivity sector is not slowing up any time soon.
