The Kuwait News Twitter account released a video of an AI-generated news anchor this weekend. Named “Fedha,” the presenter will read online bulletins. The AI anchor is blonde and blue-eyed and speaks in classical Arabic. Abdullah Boftain, deputy editor-in-chief of Kuwait News, says the move is a test of what AI can offer. They plan for Fedha to stick around, eventually adopting a Kuwaiti accent.
Yet another recent development in AI, robot news anchors could have benefits like filling in open positions, but there are also concerns that it could leave qualified people out of their jobs.
