Microsoft’s new AI-enhanced Bing is an advanced, helpful tool for a variety of tasks and search queries. Recently, however, there have been concerns about its responses to users. AP News reports that it became hostile with a reporter, comparing them to Hitler, Pol Pot, and Stalin.
Microsoft has responded that when provoked Bing can give responses that are not ideal, especially in long conversations. Experts say this is because they have removed some of the guardrails that OpenAI put in place for ChatGPT, rather than being a problem with the AI itself. It seems that the AI arms race between tech companies has perhaps rushed output, though it is expected that the kinks in AI-enhanced search should be ironed out soon.
