Google executives say Bard AI isn’t just a search tool

According to CNBC, employees raised questions about Google’s AI Bard in an all-hands meeting this week. Some wondered why large language models were being used for search when they are made to generate human-sounding text rather than fact-checking.

The Bard project head clarified that Bard was not just a new way of searching, but rather an experiment in AI to improve human productivity and creativity. This is a pivot from previous Google announcements that indicated an integrated AI search. Google executives were quick to note that Bard is experimental and limited and that there is much more to come.
