According to researchers from John Hopkins University and Cortical Labs, biological computers could outdo electronic computers using a small fraction of the electricity. By growing clusters of brain cells from stem cells, the researchers plan to create brain-like structures called organoids. These would outperform AI algorithms while using less energy.
Biocomputers are clearly possible, as a flat culture of brain cells learned to play the video game Pong. While AI is developing at a faster rate, organoid intelligence and biocomputers could be the future of intelligence.
