A reporter at CNBC asked ChatGPT to plan her next beach vacation. It provided destination options, hotels, and food recommendations, all of which were fairly accurate. It did, however, include one hotel that was located in British Columbia rather than Bali, and gave inaccurate Google reviews. Further, ChatGPT can name airlines that connect cities, but due to its lack of recent data, it cannot give current flight information or help book them.
One big downside to using ChatGPT to plan is that access to past chats can be denied, either due to overloaded servers or exceeding the daily limit. So, while it could save travelers time in the beginning stages, the lack of current information and the number of error messages do not make it as thorough as is needed to plan an entire trip.
