According to the UK government, nine of the most promising AI healthcare technologies will receive £16 million in government funding. These include systems to run cancer checks, diagnose rare diseases, and identify women who are at the highest risk of premature birth. Successful technologies will be fast-tracked into the National Health Service to improve the speed and accuracy of diagnoses, tackle waiting lists, and free up clinician time.
Many patients across the country could benefit from quicker diagnoses and more effective treatments. This is a big step in embracing AI. As more technology is developed it is increasingly important to invest in medical AI.
